The Roman Catholic church in Nowotaniec has a collection of records for Nowotaniec and surrounding Roman Catholic villages in its parish like Nadolany and Nagórzany. This page is a table of contents for those records. The priest there is a busy guy and is unable or unwilling to answer genealogical queries by mail; at least that was the case when I visited in May 2003. But every time I've been there in person he's been kind and more than willing to let me look through the books at my leisure. Should you go there yourself, these are the books you can expect to find there. I don't think there are facilities for copying on hand, so bring a digital camera with you. The books are written in Polonized Latin and are not too hard to understand once you've figured out what you're looking at.
The Books
There are two lists here. The first I made personally in May of 2003, but at that time, most of the books were away in Sanok being rebound. Oops! The second list is from Marek Silarski, who posted it to the Bukowsko Triangle mailing list in August of 2004. When I get back to Nowotaniec and verify all of this myself, I'll update this page once again.
About the titles: A brief translation is provided in parenthesis after each title thanks to Jan Cesarczyk. The Polish word parafia means "parish". The English word bann is familiar to most Catholics as a public announcement by a couple of intent to marry.
